Lorraine's Coffee Shop - 1959
New Bedford

Below is the 1959 photo of Lorraine's Coffee Shop.

Well known for many years, it closed sometime after this photo was taken.

Edward Kincaide, died Thursday, May 1, 1996. He was 100 years old. Edward left the military in 1924 and managed the coffee shop for 37 years until 1961.

Mr Kincaide was employed by the Lorraine Tea & Coffee Shop, as a manager for 37 years until his retirement.

There is a photo online - see the Flickr page - entitled " Portrait of Fredrick Lorraine with a baby carriage".
It is subtitled." Portrait of Fredrick Lorraine, tea and coffee man".
Photo was taken In 1912. He was pushing a carriage over the New Bedford, Fairhaven Bridge.

Thanks to Gordon Gregory we have this information:
"The baby in the carriage was Blanche Lorraine who later married Gordon Gibbs of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. Blanche and Fredrick were the only offspring of Fredrick and Lillian (nee Clemmans) Lorraine. "
If you have any info about this photo, please let me know. Webmaster.
